The Notre Dame du Liban Shrine on Harissa Mount was completed in 1908 and belongs to the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate. Our Lady (the Virgin Mary) is made of 15 tons of bronze. Harissa Mount is the headquarters for many Christian denominations in Lebanon by invitation of the Maronite Patriarchate. This ecumenism and penetrating quiet confer a feeling of peace to all who visit. Many, many people visit the shrine. It is sacred to both Christians and Muslims.
The views from Harissa are splendid. Harissa can be reached up or down the mount via a steep tram ride.
